Pie and Piecework

Ann surprised us at our last meeting with a sweet culinary creation -
key lime mousse pie!
As amazing to look at as it was to eat, the pie was savored by all of us.

Ann even photographed the ingredients she used!

Meanwhile, around the table…
Susie had two quilts to show which she had pieced
 and Barbara had machine quilted.

And, as with many of us, Susie is also working on other projects,
including this beautiful appliquéd embroidery.

Carol brought a quilt top she had finished and asked for ideas
as to how she might machine quilt it. With so many talented quilters
present, she came away with a plan.

A few weeks before, Carol had finished this wonderful wall hanging
 for her daughter-in-law...

and she was working on some knitting as we chatted.

Susan had this hand colored bunny embroidery to share,

and Barbara brought an antique quilt top she had purchased and
asked for ideas for borders she could add before quilting it.

Dottie's handmade tote was a big hit -
with beautiful fabrics and detailed stitching.

And her wool applique quilt, which we have watched her make,
is finished and looks amazing. Below are close-ups of two of the blocks.

Ann's pie made it a special occasion, but we always find
laughter and inspiration around the creative table!

And So We Begin...

Since we see so many lovely hand-made creations at our weekly gatherings, we thought it would be fun to record and share them in a blog. This is a sampling of what some of us were working on or had completed this week…

Peggy brought three quilts she had made and hadn't yet shared.

This is Pat R.'s baby quilt and another she is currently quilting by hand.

Daphne shared this gem and two clutches she had made.
She has an etsy shop here.

Barbara is working on hand appliquéd squares for a quilt,
from a Danish pattern,
replacing Danish names with names of stores in her own town.

Judy is working on a bird embroidery and Susan is starting a wool appliqué.

This is a crewel embroidery picture being completed by Carol...

...and Ann is working on wool appliquéd squares for a quilt.

Finally, Susie showed us her completed quilt
which Barbara had just recently machine quilted for her.

In every post, we'll highlight the work of different people.
As you look at the photos, try to imaging the background of
good conversation and laughter which accompanies our meetings!

We'd love you to stop by again for another visit!
